5 steps to Increase Productivity at your Startup

Are you being a Zombie ? and everyday( and night) do you feel

  • “I don’t have time to do XYZ “
  • “I wish there were more than 24 hours a day”
  • “How can I increase productivity and get things done?”

We understand and can relate to that. Work timings in a startup can be crazy or pretty laid back but most people agree during it’s early days the work hours are long untill late night sometimes even asking you to sacrifice your sleep. Pizzas, redbulls become part of your HEALTHY diet and couches are where you might doze off.

Increase productivity at your startup or your day-time job following these simple tips that will help improve your efficiency and effectiveness.

5 steps to increase productivity

  1. Have a Schedule – Have a pre-defined schedule (time or hours ) and try to stick to it. (There might be few exceptions during releases/the day before the product launch)
  2. Prioritize your schedule (tasks) – It is very important to know your PRIORITIES, as there will be lot of noise and urgent things that come up, but if you ask how IMPORTANT is this in context of my goals and my delivery dates, you will get the big picture and let the noise slide way.
  3. Follow the Schedule – Yes it’s important you follow the schedule. It requires DISCIPLINE to stick to the schedule untill it becomes a habit or routine and you will see your efficiency and effectiveness improve.
  4. Track your Progress – Be PROACTIVE to keep tabs on your work and schedule and don’t wait till the eleventh hour and let the task turn into a catastrophe
  5. Revise and Repeat – See what’s working and what’s not so you can adjust your schedule (or tasks) accordingly. Plan and revise the schedule on the weekend or Monday for the coming week(s).

In addition to the above, people and the ambiance at your work place play a vital role for you to leverage the above steps.

  • Keep Work to your Office – Work only in your office space. i.e if you have the tendency to take work to your home or have work and home in the same place, make sure you have a work space where you do your work and your laptop or PC/iMAc is in that work space and you don’t take WORK with you where ever you go, especially your home or places where you need to relax.
  • Work in Group(s)Crowd Sourcing helps team building by collaborating with each other and also motivates you to keep getting things done unless everyone in the group is a slacker.

Let us know what worked for you to increase productivity at your start-up and the progress you made in “CHANGING THE WORLD” one night at a time :)
