It’s that time of the year again when the entire world celebrates love. Love transcends the restrictions of individuality, nationality, language and knows no borders. It can melt the hearts of even the toughest men. It can do everything ranging from making your heart beat faster to bringing together the peoples of distant nations. For an emotion so powerful, it is inevitable that there should be at least one day in the year to mark human dedication towards it…and so we have Valentine’s day.

Some would tell you that love must exist all the 365 days of the year and not just one day. A mother isn’t a mother just on mother’s day but the day exists to make her feel special and remind everyone else of her greatness. Similarly Valentine’s day is not the only day in which you have to love your valentine, but it exists to remind yourself to ponder upon the depth of your love, to cherish it and to express it uninhibitedly.

Spend time on your special someone, treat them WELL and make them feel SPECIAL. We believe that, with a heart behind it, even a simple action could mean the world to your loved one. Simple, cute and tangible little things to look back at that remind them of the eternal and intangible emotion of LOVE that you expressed to them on Valentine’s day.

Despite of what the corporations tell you, you don’t have to empty your pockets in the process of celebrating Valentine’s day. Take time for your special some one, treat them GOOD, make them feel SPECIAL. We believe that, with a heart behind it, even a simple action could mean the world to your loved one. Simple cute little tangible things to look back, that reminds and makes them remember the eternal and intangible emotion called LOVE that you expressed to your Valentine.

To carry just that simple action with a heart behind it we’ve created an app which, besides melting your heart, makes expressions of love easier for you. We present to you, Heartz!

Heartz is an innovative app that uses the picture of your loved one to render animated hearts and float them across the screen among colorful flying hearts.

This Valentine’s day, we’re releasing an upgraded Heartz V2.0 which sports the special feature of creating personalized musical greetings. Get it when its free this Valentine season.
May you have a beautiful Valentine’s day.

Its interesting to recall and remind ourselves of how things happened in the past and try connecting the dots. Sometimes it makes us smile and think “It’s funny” and sometimes we think “Ohh God that was Stupid”. Nevertheless we believe the journey is important and how the places less traveled were explored.

In that context we are really proud to look back and cherish how we came so far. It’s been almost more than 2 years we started the journey of WebileApps and the WebileApps brand has evolved with us too.

I take this time to look at what we did with our websites and share a laugh with you looking at some of our initial websites

Now What’s Next ?

In this New Year we feel it’s time for a REDESIGN and a NEW FRESH LOOK. But this time we are going to do things differently. We asked the question “Why not the BRAND be the choice of YOUR taste and opinion ?” Sowhat are you waiting for, please take few minutes of your time and let us know which one you like from the below designs.

We were thinking of a “Minimalistic” theme. If you have a different idea let us know.

Steve Jobs – a tribute to one of the greatest visionaries of our time

When you ask people how would they would describe Steve Jobs you hear a lot of great things and honestly, I’m at a loss of words on how to describe this man who built a company from scratch not once but twice. But, as I keep thinking there are two striking aspects about Steve Jobs that set him apart from peers. One, he was a great Visionary and two, he was a great Leader.

Vision

In the early 1980′s when computers were things you would only see in a lab, Steve Jobs had this vision where he saw the computer as the digital hub of human life. Nobody then had the slightest notion that this could be the future until Apple came up with Macintosh. It was the first time Steve Jobs made an impact.

When Steve Jobs came back to Apple in 1996 people asked him what was his vision for future, he answered Internet and Networking were the two key things that will revolutionize human life. In-fact, years before the term cloud computing was coined the Next(company Steve Jobs started after he left Apple) work stations had cloud capabilities where the clients could sync all their local data to the server without ever worrying about data loss and the best part is – all of this happened in the background with out the user ever knowing it. He wanted Apple to leverage all these advances in Networking. Fast forward 2011 – we now have iCloud that does exactly what Steve wanted. This is the power of vision. He patiently waited 14 years to turn this vision into reality.

But having vision alone isn’t enough always – the problem is that people don’t get it as its set in the future. Imagine going back to 1980s and explaining the concept of personal computer to an accountant. It would have made absolutely no sense for him as all he needed was a calculator. But, Steve Jobs was a master at articulating his vision and proved it multiple times. He did this with the Macintosh, he did it with the iPod and he did it again in a very big way with the iPhone. Talking to Steve Jobs about his vision often left people wondering if it was really a vision or if Steve was carrying a prototype of the product they were discussing. This happened with Stan Sigman the wireless boss of AT&T in 2006. Sigman who is usually conservative called the iPhone “the best device I have ever seen.” – at the end of his meeting with Steve Jobs. (this was before any actual work started on iPhone). I really can not think of any other entrepreneur in our era with so much vision and such immense capability to execute that vision.

Leadership

For me leadership is about giving people direction, inspiring and helping them collectively move towards that goal. Steve was a master at this – Not only he attracted great talent but he gave them a direction. The thing with really smart people is that they are individually brilliant but when you put them in teams and ask them to collaborate their productivity comes down. Steve Jobs made sure this wasn’t the case at Apple as well as Pixar. He not only inspired friends and colleagues but inspired his competition alike. Bill Gates said the following about Steve in 1998 “In terms of an inspirational leader, Steve Jobs is really the best I have ever met,” . Nobody could have said it better.

Another quality of Steve’s leadership is his stubbornness and his quest for perfection. He was the first consumer of Apple’s products and his attention to detail was so demanding that no matter what he wouldn’t release a product until it was picture perfect. To give you a perspective – when Apple was designing iMac which had a transparent body he was so demanding that he wanted the chip boards to be beautiful, yes the chip boards. Can you imagine any other CEO doing this? Many people might not really like this aspect of Steve’s leadership, but honestly iPhone, iPod or any Apple product for that matter would have been one more product in the market sans this ideal. In-fact if you look at history books all great leaders were stubborn and never compromised on their core values. Take Gandhi for example, he was so stubborn in his quest for non-violence that even his life didn’t matter to him. Same is the case with Jobs – he was relentless in his quest for perfection.

To sum it all up in Steve’s own words, here’s what he said in at commencement address at Stanford in 2005 -

” Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary – Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish“.

Thats how he’s been all his life and thats what we sincerely hope to imbibe in to our culture at WebileApps - Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish. Thanks Steve for your single greatest invention - Apple and thanks for letting us know the power of PASSION and VISION and how we can change the world.

Rest in Peace – Steve.

This is a great commencement speech by Jeff bezos about “Gifts and Choices”

A great saying from his Grand Father “It’s harder to be KIND than clever”

Enjoy the wisdom from the INTERNET GIANT and the CEO of the worlds biggest online retailer.

The transcript of the speech :

As a kid, I spent my summers with my grandparents on their ranch in Texas. I helped fix windmills, vaccinate cattle, and do other chores. We also watched soap operas every afternoon, especially “Days of our Lives.” My grandparents belonged to a Caravan Club, a group of Airstream trailer owners who travel together around the U.S. and Canada. And every few summers, we’d join the caravan. We’d hitch up the Airstream trailer to my grandfather’s car, and off we’d go, in a line with 300 other Airstream adventurers. I loved and worshipped my grandparents and I really looked forward to these trips. On one particular trip, I was about 10 years old. I was rolling around in the big bench seat in the back of the car. My grandfather was driving. And my grandmother had the passenger seat. She smoked throughout these trips, and I hated the smell.

At that age, I’d take any excuse to make estimates and do minor arithmetic. I’d calculate our gas mileage — figure out useless statistics on things like grocery spending. I’d been hearing an ad campaign about smoking. I can’t remember the details, but basically the ad said, every puff of a cigarette takes some number of minutes off of your life: I think it might have been two minutes per puff. At any rate, I decided to do the math for my grandmother. I estimated the number of cigarettes per days, estimated the number of puffs per cigarette and so on. When I was satisfied that I’d come up with a reasonable number, I poked my head into the front of the car, tapped my grandmother on the shoulder, and proudly proclaimed, “At two minutes per puff, you’ve taken nine years off your life!”

I have a vivid memory of what happened, and it was not what I expected. I expected to be applauded for my cleverness and arithmetic skills. “Jeff, you’re so smart. You had to have made some tricky estimates, figure out the number of minutes in a year and do some division.” That’s not what happened. Instead, my grandmother burst into tears. I sat in the backseat and did not know what to do. While my grandmother sat crying, my grandfather, who had been driving in silence, pulled over onto the shoulder of the highway. He got out of the car and came around and opened my door and waited for me to follow. Was I in trouble? My grandfather was a highly intelligent, quiet man. He had never said a harsh word to me, and maybe this was to be the first time? Or maybe he would ask that I get back in the car and apologize to my grandmother. I had no experience in this realm with my grandparents and no way to gauge what the consequences might be. We stopped beside the trailer. My grandfather looked at me, and after a bit of silence, he gently and calmly said, “Jeff, one day you’ll understand that it’s harder to be kind than clever.”

What I want to talk to you about today is the difference between gifts and choices. Cleverness is a gift, kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy — they’re given after all. Choices can be hard. You can seduce yourself with your gifts if you’re not careful, and if you do, it’ll probably be to the detriment of your choices.

This is a group with many gifts. I’m sure one of your gifts is the gift of a smart and capable brain. I’m confident that’s the case because admission is competitive and if there weren’t some signs that you’re clever, the dean of admission wouldn’t have let you in.

Your smarts will come in handy because you will travel in a land of marvels. We humans — plodding as we are — will astonish ourselves. We’ll invent ways to generate clean energy and a lot of it. Atom by atom, we’ll assemble tiny machines that will enter cell walls and make repairs. This month comes the extraordinary but also inevitable news that we’ve synthesized life. In the coming years, we’ll not only synthesize it, but we’ll engineer it to specifications. I believe you’ll even see us understand the human brain. Jules Verne, Mark Twain, Galileo, Newton — all the curious from the ages would have wanted to be alive most of all right now. As a civilization, we will have so many gifts, just as you as individuals have so many individual gifts as you sit before me.

How will you use these gifts? And will you take pride in your gifts or pride in your choices?

I got the idea to start Amazon 16 years ago. I came across the fact that Web usage was growing at 2,300 percent per year. I’d never seen or heard of anything that grew that fast, and the idea of building an online bookstore with millions of titles — something that simply couldn’t exist in the physical world — was very exciting to me. I had just turned 30 years old, and I’d been married for a year. I told my wife MacKenzie that I wanted to quit my job and go do this crazy thing that probably wouldn’t work since most startups don’t, and I wasn’t sure what would happen after that. MacKenzie (also a Princeton grad and sitting here in the second row) told me I should go for it. As a young boy, I’d been a garage inventor. I’d invented an automatic gate closer out of cement-filled tires, a solar cooker that didn’t work very well out of an umbrella and tinfoil, baking-pan alarms to entrap my siblings. I’d always wanted to be an inventor, and she wanted me to follow my passion.

I was working at a financial firm in New York City with a bunch of very smart people, and I had a brilliant boss that I much admired. I went to my boss and told him I wanted to start a company selling books on the Internet. He took me on a long walk in Central Park, listened carefully to me, and finally said, “That sounds like a really good idea, but it would be an even better idea for someone who didn’t already have a good job.” That logic made some sense to me, and he convinced me to think about it for 48 hours before making a final decision. Seen in that light, it really was a difficult choice, but ultimately, I decided I had to give it a shot. I didn’t think I’d regret trying and failing. And I suspected I would always be haunted by a decision to not try at all. After much consideration, I took the less safe path to follow my passion, and I’m proud of that choice.

Tomorrow, in a very real sense, your life — the life you author from scratch on your own — begins.

How will you use your gifts? What choices will you make?

Will inertia be your guide, or will you follow your passions?

Will you follow dogma, or will you be original?

Will you choose a life of ease, or a life of service and adventure?

Will you wilt under criticism, or will you follow your convictions?

Will you bluff it out when you’re wrong, or will you apologize?

Will you guard your heart against rejection, or will you act when you fall in love?

Will you play it safe, or will you be a little bit swashbuckling?

When it’s tough, will you give up, or will you be relentless?

Will you be a cynic, or will you be a builder?

Will you be clever at the expense of others, or will you be kind?

I will hazard a prediction. When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices. Build yourself a great story. Thank you and good luck!

This is an email we just found in our archives and FELT refreshing reading it. What ever your belief system is, we hope you will enjoy it and start “LIVING IN THE MOMENT”

CHAT WITH GOD!

God : Hello. Did you call me?

Me: Called you? No.. Who is this ?

God : This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

God : What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

Me: Don’t know. But I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic. It’s rush hour all the time.

God : Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me: I understand. But I still can’t figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

God : Well I wanted to resolve your! Fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God : Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.

Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?

God : Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy.

Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God : Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty. .

God : Pain is inevitable able, but suffering is optional.

Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God : Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.

Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

God : Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher . She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can’t we be free from problems?

God : Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks

Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading..

God : If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

God : Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.

Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God : Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Me: What surprises you about people?

God : when they suffer they ask, “why me?” When they prosper, they never ask “Why me” Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I can’t get the answer.

God : Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Me: How can I get the best out of life?

God : Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

God : There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.

Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat.

God : Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear . Don’t believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live. ” Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that took our breath away! ”

With the advent of Internet “Websites” have become part of our life and a day doesn’t pass by without visiting the Google’s or FaceBook’s

Did you ever think what happens in the background and how these webpages are served ?

Have you ever heard people talking about “Web Servers” down or are experiencing heavy load and wonder what these nerds are talking about ?

Let’s see what these nerds are talking about and what in the world is a Web Server ?

Web Server is just like a Social Servant serving the needs of the citizens through the World Wide Web. It’s hard and soft.

In short it serves web pages so you can do all the things you have been doing so far everyday, on the websites you have been visiting.

They come in hardware (computers) and software (programs).

If you dive deep there are some good folks out there. A few to mention are

1. Apache
2. IIS
3. Nginx
4. LightSpeed

And few others include GWS from Google and SunOne from Sun Microsystems.

I guess we eventually will have our OWN brand of web servers called WebileServer
